*Extolling her false teeth at age 38, Gwyn would soon lose the rest of her real ones to the effects of scurvy, brought about by a widespread Vitamin C deficiency in wartime Britain when citrus fruit was rarely available. She meticulously fed rose hip tea to baby Suzanna but neglected her own needs, a behavior all too common in young mothers who are also single parents.
